The Postpartum Identity Crisis: How to Find Yourself After Having a Baby with Ashley Benitez

Having a baby will change your life. But some new parents struggle because they feel they have lost their identity as an individual, as a person. They feel this identity has been replaced by their identity as a parent. This Wednesday I sit down with Ashley Benitez, Certified Postpartum Doula & Certified Pediatric Sleep Coach.

As a postpartum doula and pediatric sleep specialist, Ashley is a strong believer in creating your village. She works with families to assist in successful transitions into parenthood as well as help build healthy sleep habits for your child.

She is passionate about creating non-judgmental, inclusive, safe spaces for families to encourage and serve parents during their postpartum journey. Ashley also understands that each family is different and one size does not fill all. What “help” may look like for each family can vary significantly. Therefore, she believes support should be tailored and customized to fit the exact needs of the primary caretaker and baby.

Ashley’s goal is to help parents navigate and find their own voice, strengths, and confidence as they transition into their new role.
